In this ageless Steve Scott film, the mythic machismo of the military is captured in six vignettes and a prologue about life in the armed services. Each part stands alone as a shrewd little short story, and the entire proceedings are neatly tied together with evocative sets, sound, and most of all, costumes.
The first image of the film, before the credits, is that of a raw recruit (Greg Johnson) whose long hair is being sheared off by some anonymous GI barber in camouflage fatigues. Suddenly, a haze of fantasy fog and a tattoo of military music envelop the scene, and presto, the recruit is giving the barber head. In no time, the figure pulls out to spray a load all over the young guy's face before the moment is washed away by another haze of fog. And so it goes as the device is repeated to introduce and end the fantasy sex sequences that emerge from the February 1995 realities of military life.
