This whole business is carried on with such utter earnestness by everyone involved that the movie goes over the top by the back door, as it were.

When the students retire to various rooms in the house with "assignments," they maintain the same mood of educational seriousness, which works to Heighten the erotic quality of their sexual homework. The students read passages from The Sex Book and then apply what they?ve read hands-on. In the background throughout, some sort of Hopi flute-rattle-drum music plays softly, adding to the atmosphere of high endeavor.

Steve?s boasts notwithstanding, his loops are indistinguishable from Jennifer?s ?both have dubbed soundtracks (replete with squeegee-like sucking sounds), surreal closeups of love tools spurting life-giving fluid, and enough unruly genital hair to make you feel like "Frank Buck on Jungle Trails." Porno luminaries Darby Lloyd Rains and John Leslie do early turns here and are easily the most enthusiastic (and least verminous) of the stag reel schtuppers.

Steve?s final film (in which a snaggle-toothed blonde grimaces Larry Fine-like at the taste of her lover?s spunk) somehow manages to win Jennifer over and they engage in an Auld Lang Syne bout of posterior intimacy. Director Pierre Duvall gets so Up Close and Personal that Ms. Duache?s dilated, semen-soaked sphincter actually seems a ringer for (I kid you not) The Crawling Eye.

The insurance man, the milkman, and the landlord all look like refugees from the local rock band and can?t act worth a dime. But the three gals sure know how to act ? especially when a fly is unzipped. They also have that heart-wrenching natural pre-silicone prettiness that made these one-day wonders so wonderful.

The dialogue is improvised and lame, and you can hear coughing and grumbling from the off-camera crew throughout. Yet, there?s a certain undeniable charm here that goes a long way toward making up for the lack of budget and brains.

When the actor playing the newspaper boy is getting "paid," he?s so obviously terrified, it?s almost touching. The improvisation around his limp noodle is the funniest scene in the movie.

Her self-parody is the best thing here, but there?s plenty of hard sex in store for those who prefer their porno de rigueur. Indeed, this flick might just as well have been titled "Fuck Around the Clock," and the Deviate thinks he knows just how the title song would go.
